Dr. Candido Quiazon Rodriguez was born on October 3, 1893, in Guagua, Pampanga, to Ambrosio Rodriguez and Emilia Quiazon. Growing up in a region rich in culture and history, he was influenced by his family’s values and the educational opportunities available at the time. In 1910, Dr. Rodriguez continued his studies at San Juan de Letran, one of the prestigious educational institutions in the Philippines. His dedication to learning and passion for medicine became evident during these formative years.

Medical Career

Dr. Rodriguez’s commitment to the medical field culminated when he graduated as a Physician from the University of Santo Tomas on May 22, 1915. This achievement marked him as the First native-born individual from Guagua, Pampanga to earn a degree in Medicine—a significant milestone not only for him but also for his community.

Following his graduation, Dr. Rodriguez embarked on a career that would see him serve both his country and community with distinction. His first employment was as a Lieutenant of the National Guard, where he demonstrated leadership and dedication during a time when the Philippines was navigating its identity post-colonization.

In 1933, Dr. Rodriguez transitioned into public health service when he became the Public Health Officer of Guagua, Pampanga.
